W W Wattles & Sons Pittsburgh Ceramic Paperwight
This is a dated ceramic advertising calendar paperweight (1492 to 1892) was probably made for the Columbian Exposition. The top is advertising for "W W Wattles & Sons Pittsburgh ". The top also has a picture of Christopher Columbus on the deck of a sailing ship. Shows 12 month year in mini calendar form - and under the calendars are the words "Jewellers, Clocks, Importers, Porcelains". Ink mark on bottom - "Made in France", cursive initials that look like "GD" and says "Paris", also “U” and “depose.” Measures roughly 3 1/2" in diameter and is 1 5/8" high. Done in dark blue on cream, transfer printed. Great condition - and a rare piece.
